OSU Vitis Club
VITIS is the plant genus for grape and a fitting title for the student group providing an educational and social outlet for students with an interest in grape and wine production and appreciation. As a club, students coordinate vineyard and winery tours, educational wine tastings and vineyard events throughout the year. The group has been trading work for grapes by assisting in vineyard management duties at the OSU Woodhall research and education vineyard in order to provide fruit for club winemaking activities. This is an excellent opportunity for members to get hands-on experience in vineyard management during the growing season, harvest fruit and experience the winemaking process from start to finish. We encourage students to be creative, innovative and pursue interests they have regarding wine and vines through club activities.
VITIS club is open to everyone on campus and we encourage participation from all aspects of the university. VITIS is intended to be a network between people who want to learn more about viticulture and enology through active participation and observation—roll up your sleeves and dig in! There is much to be had in education and experience! Students under the age of 21 are welcome; however, they may not play an active role in wine production or wine tasting events.
