
2022 Wine Enthusiast Innovator of the Year
Elizabeth Tomasino was recently selected as Wine Enthusiast Magazine’s Innovator of the Year for her influential research on grape smoke exposure mitigation. She received the award alongside colleagues Tom Collins of Washington State University and Anita Oberholster of University of California, Davis.
This honor is part of Wine Enthusiast Magazine’s annual Wine Star Awards, which recognize individuals and companies making exceptional contributions to the wine and alcoholic beverage industries in the U.S. and beyond. The awards are revered as being among the most prestigious in the global wine industry.

2022 Distinguished Lipid and Flavor Science Award in Honor of Stephen S. Chang
Michael Qian has made significant contributions to flavor science by solving flavor and off-flavor problems in the dairy, wine-making, and brewing industries, and is named recipient of the 2022 Distinguished Lipid and Flavor Science Award in Honor of Stephen S. Chang.

2018 ASEV Extension Distinction Award
Viticulture Extension Specialist and Oregon State University (OSU) Associate Professor Dr. Patty Skinkis has been confirmed as the American Society for Enology and Viticulture’s 2018 Extension Distinction Award recipient.

2018 Outstanding Industry Leadership Award
Bob Martin, former courtesy faculty in the Oregon State University College of Agricultural Sciences, and supervisory research plant pathologist for USDA – Agricultural Research Service was chosen as the recipient of the Outstanding Industry Leadership Award. Martin has worked with viruses in small fruit crops since 1980 and has been a research leader at the USDA-ARS Horticultural Crops Research Unit since 2004, working with a team of 15 scientists and 70 staff members, while maintaining a research program in virology.
